Music Festival News for the Week of Friday 11.08.2024 (Birthday Goose)
Now that the 2024 music festival season is winding down, I'm shifting our focus to weekly news updates and interviews with festival producers, bands,...
What a crazy music festival season it's been in 2024! This week on Music Festivals Podcast, I talk with Turner C. Moore, owner of Obsession Productions to preview next weekend's Sunshine Hootenanny Music and Art Festival that is taking place at the Florida Sands Music Ranch in Brooksville, FL next weekend. I'm delighted to be making the trip to the fest for on-site coverage!
Episode 16 is the official end of season on of the show and I can't believe that we're already 16 shows in! We're also moving towards Black Friday and all the annual early bird and blind faith ticket promotions. You'll want to pay attention to this week's music festival news to get the scoop on those deals. And, this week's show takes you out with a fantastic bluegrass love song by the hilariously entertaining Nothin' Fancy Bluegrass that I was able to record at last weekend's Industrial Strength Bluegrass Festival at the Roberts Convention Center in Wilmington, Ohio.
Hosted by Obsession Productions, the Sunshine Hootenanny Music & Arts Festival is taking place from November 21-23 at the Florida Sand Music Ranch in Brooksville, FL.
In it's first year of production, this fest already boasts an impressive and diverse lineup that mixes local, regional and national acts. The three-day event also showcases local talents and tribute bands, offering attendees a rich and varied musical experience in a beautiful 80-acre wooded setting
The festival features a mix of genres including classic rock, southern rock, bluegrass, reggae, and jam bands across two stages. Headlining this inaugural year are jam band legends moe., who will perform two sets, along with rising stars Dogs In A Pile and bassist Karina Rykman.
Other notable acts include Lemonade With Bobby Lee Rogers, Tru Phonic, Grandpa's Cough Medicine, Grateful Dawg, RJ Howson, Berry Oakley Jr. & Friends, Dose, One Love Rising, and Ship Of Fools.
The festival features diverse activities and highlights to to keep camp neighbors busy when the stage lights aren't on. Key experiences will include Sound Meditation Workshops, offering sound healing through guided meditations and interactive sessions. After main stage performances, Campsite Jams provide intimate musical gatherings for spontaneous late-night performances. The festival also offers a wide range of food and merch vendors, with food trucks serving festival favorites and a marketplace of unique handmade goods by local artists.
I am SUPER excited to get down to Florida next week to cover this festival, and I want to give special thanks my new neighbor Turner Moore for the invitation.
For an unparalleled blend of music and adventure, RiverWonderGrass is making waves by taking the festival experience to the river! I LOVE this truly unique series that is produced by your neighbors at Bonfire Entertainment.
RiverWonderGrass trips offer a truly immersive and intimate journey, set against the backdrop of the best that Colorado has to offer in terms of scenery. Participants embark on multi-day rafting trips expertly managed by Adrift Dinosaur Adventures, where they can indulge in the thrill of paddling through scenic waterways, spot diverse wildlife in their natural habitats, and enjoy the magic of nightly riverside performances under the stars.
The nine separate trips boasts an impressive lineup of rafting headliners, including the lively and energetic Pixie & the Party Grass Boys, the talented banjo virtuoso Kyle Tuttle, and the dead grass ensemble Pickin on the Dead, known for their captivating adaptations of the Grateful Dead catalog. These unique experiences promise unforgettable memories for those who get on the boat.
However, with such a distinctive offering, tickets are always in high demand and limited to 20n per trip. If this is your brand of whisky, my best advice is to secure your spots now.
Exciting news for O.A.R. fans! The O.A.R. Colorado Road Trip is set to be an unforgettable two night run in the state, featuring the Ohio band alongside the legendary Blind Melon as a special guest.
Scheduled for June 2025, this run promises to be a highlight of the summer music scene out west. The road trip will include performances at two of Colorado's most renowned venues: Vail’s Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater, known for its stunning mountain backdrop and intimate setting, and the world-famous Red Rocks Amphitheater, celebrated for its breathtaking natural acoustics and panoramic views. Both are definitely on my personal list of must-see venues.
Fans eager to secure their spot can use the presale code "OAR25" to purchase tickets early, ensuring they don't miss out on this extraordinary event.
Additionally, $1 from each ticket sold will be donated to Heard the World Fund, O.A.R.’s nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting youth education initiatives.
This means that by attending the concert, fans not only enjoy an incredible evening of music, but also contribute to a meaningful cause. What's not to like about that?
The Mountain Music Festival in West Virginia is now eagerly inviting applications from talented fire and flow performers, as well as creative visual artists, to do their thing at the June 2025 event to be held at the ACE Adventure Resort.
This festival has carved out a niche for itself by offering an exhilarating mix of outdoor adventures, including thrilling rafting excursions down the New River Gorge, adrenaline-pumping zip line tours through the lush canopy, and invigorating mountain biking trails that wind through the breathtaking Appalachian landscape.
This unique blend of art, music, and nature creates an unforgettable experience for attendees, set in the beauty of the lush West Virginia hills.
Tickets for this festival will be available for purchase starting this December, with early bird passes often starting at an affordable $99, allowing festival-goers to book their spot without breaking their fest budget.
It was recently announced that Ohio’s Midnight Jam is being held at Roost on the River next June in Newark, Ohio. This small festival showcases an impressive lineup of talented regional bands, including local favorites Trial By Fire, The Chatfield Boys and Blue Moon Soup.
It's the perfect event for festival neighbors looking for a small and relaxed fest with no hassles all weekend. The venue and campground are as close to downtown Newark as you can get, so the camping experience should be interesting.
For those planning to join the festivities, early bird weekend passes are available at an affordable price, starting around $60, and they include the added bonus of camping, allowing camp neighbors to get in, get set up and chill without additional fees to worry about.
Give this one a serious look and add it to your festival list for next year.
And finally, the big one: Bonnaroo, the long standing music festival in Manchester TN that has become a rite of passage for live music enthusiasts across the country. Everyone should go to Bonnaroo at least once.
The 2025 presale kicks off next week. This year's festival line up is with an incredible list of acts, featuring headliners such as Pretty Lights, the iconic Red Hot Chili Peppers, and one of my personal favorites, Greensky Bluegrass.
These artists are just the tip of the iceberg, as Bonnaroo is known for its diverse range of performers spanning multiple genres, ensuring there's something for everyone. With ticket prices typically starting around $344 for general admission and going all the way up to $22,000 for 4-Day Super VIP packages for two, Bonnaroo caters to any neighbor's desired experience.
It's a bucket-list event. Whether you're a seasoned festival-goer or a first-timer, Bonnaroo is an experience that will leave you with some great memories and great performances.
